Since he declined the offer to spend the night with any of the final three contestants in the fantasy suite, rumours began swirling that Sean Lowe was the first virgin Bachelor.
And now the Southern gentleman has confirmed that he and new fiancée Catherine Giudici will wait until their wedding night to consummate their relationship.
Sean, 29, is a conservative Christian and born-again virgin, who has abstained from sex since college.
Waiting for their wedding night: The Bachelor Sean Lowe and his fiancee Catherine Giudici have revealed to People Magazine that they won't consummate their relationship until they are married
And his 26-year-old bride-to-be is happy to âhonorâ her future husbandâs beliefs.
The couple spoke to People Magazine about their decision, and Sean revealed he doesnât want to wait too long to tie the knot, for obvious reasons.
âIâm a guy,â he told the publication with a laugh. âIf it were up to me, Iâd go to the courthouse tomorrow and it would be a done deal!â
The hunky blonde explained his decision to practise abstinence until he has exchanged vows.
Planning the big day: The couple are thinking about tying the knot this summer in the Los Angeles area
âI lived life kind of selfishly for a long time, and I reached a point where I was tired of being selfish.
âI wanted to live my life the way I know it to be right. Itâs a personal choice for me.â
When asked what he thought about being branded the âvirgin Bachelorâ, Sean said: âI donât pay attention to the labels. This attention is just for a short season of my life, so Iâm not going to get too stressed out about it.â

Sean popped the question to the gorgeous graphic designer in Thailand, and after keeping their relationship under wraps for so long, the smitten pair are delighted that they can finally go public with their romance.
âItâs daunting, the whole prospect of it,â Catherine said. âWe can finally be engaged in public. Thatâs the first step. Then the wedding plans.â
Sean added: âWeâve kicked around some ideas. It could be this summer. We talked about an outdoor wedding in the L.A. area. I think that will be fun. We want it to be a big party.â
Sticking together: Graphic designer Catherine said she honours her husband-to-be's beliefs
Romantic: Sean popped the question to Catherine in Thailand in the finale, which was watched by nine million fans
The couple revealed on The Bachelor: After The Final Rose that much like their courtship, they plan to have their nuptials televised.
âI think itâs only fitting,â Sean said. âOur relationship was started and created on TV, so we could solidify it there as well.â
In the meantime Sean, who has just signed up to compete on Dancing With The Stars, says the next step is for the pair to move to his hometown of Dallas and begin their lives together.
Following his heart: The Bachelor said that while he loved runner-up Lindsay Yenter, he was in love with Catherine

And while the couple are keen to have children, they are not in any rush to start a family.
Happy couple: Sean and Catherine grace People's new cover
âWe want to move around a little while weâre newly married and enjoy that first,â Sean said, going on to say that they want âmaybe threeâ children and have âtalked about adoptingâ.
He added: âIâm enjoying just being an uncle right now. I can wait on becoming a dad.â
Catherine echoed: âHaving kids is something that we have to take really seriously. We have to be ready.â
The couple, who used to pass each other secret love notes on the show, clearly have just as strong feelings for each other since the glamour of The Bachelor came to an end.
âIâve just never been able to open up to anybody the way I have with him,â Catherine gushed. âHeâs a man, but heâs so compassionate. The full package.â
Sean added: âItâs no natural for me to be with Catherine. Sheâs my best friend. When weâre together, we know itâs right.â
Although the nine million viewers who tuned into the finale watched Sean wrestle between whether to choose Catherine or Lindsay Yenter, Sean admitted that the decision was not as much of a tough one as it was made out to be.
âI loved Lindsay for the person she is, but I was in love with Catherine,â he said. âThe hardest part was knowing that Lindsay thought she would get engaged that day, and instead I was about to break her heart.â
