HE correctly predicted the phenomenal success of 2005 American Idol winner Carrie Underwood but Simon Cowell has never made any secret of the fact that he’s not a big fan of country music.
He’s smart and there’s a lot to be done in country music.
In fact Carrie reports that when she was waiting in the wings to audition for the TV talent show, she was told, “You know Simon hates country music, right?â€
But as American country stars arrive en masse in London for a giant festival at the O2 this weekend, multiplatinum selling Carrie told Day & Night over breakfast at the St Pancras Hotel that she thinks Simon may be warming to the genre.
“I definitely think he’s more open to it â€" yeah, maybe because it makes money!†giggled the 30-year-old, who will perform at the C2C: Country To Country music festival this Sunday alongside LeAnn Rimes.
“He’s smart and there’s a lot to be done in country music. It’s one of the least hard hit by illegal downloading. The fans are so loyal.â€
