Police searching for missing mum Pamela Jackson say there is âno realistic chanceâ she is still alive.
Itâs more than a month since the 55-year-old was reported missing with extensive searches by officers carried out across County Durham and West Yorkshire.
But with no trace of Pamela police have confirmed they are âeffectively looking for a bodyâ having exhausted all possible actions in the hope of finding her alive.
Det Supt Ken Donnelly, the officer leading the investigation, said: âFrom the moment Pamela was reported missing we have carried out extensive work both in the Chester-le-Street and the West Yorkshire areas, but I am afraid we are now effectively looking for a body.
âAs there have been no sightings of her in the last four weeks and no other evidence she is still alive, we have to acknowledge the reality of the situation.
âThere are a number of lines of enquiry still in hand to trace Pamelaâs whereabouts, and her family are obviously anxious she is found as soon as possible. Our efforts are therefore continuing, using all sources of information and technical assistance.
âAs soon as the weather improves our search teams will resume their work across the moorlands and other areas in West Yorkshire and in County Durham.â
Pamela was reported missing on March 2 by her son youngest Joe who lived with her at their home in The Crescent, Chester-le-Street, County Durham.
Since then there have been no sightings of the grandmother and her partner Adrian Muir has appeared in court charged with her murder.
Det Supt Donnelly said he still had a large team working on the case and they would not rest until Pamela is found.
