Lindsay Lohan, Charlie Sheen cause a stir debuting 'Scary Movie V' - Detroit Free Press

LOS ANGELES â€" Lindsay Lohan may be checking into rehab in just a few weeks, but she still sure knows how to command a press line.

The actress showed up 15 minutes after the red carpet was due to close for her new film, “Scary Movie V” (in which she has a cameo), but no matter: not one photographer or reporter budged from the Cinerama Dome until she emerged in a little black and gold Dolce & Gabbana dress and caged black heels. Neither did the crowd of paparazzi waiting across Sunset Boulevard.

Not that she did much press. Neither did Sheen, who has taken a kindly interest in the actress, casting her in his show “Anger Management,” loaning her $100,000 for taxes and even helping to finagle a dress for a recent NYC event.

But the rest of the cast dished plenty about the popular franchise's new installment, which spoofs everything from “The Hunger Games” to “50 Shades of Grey.”

Ashley Tisdale takes over for Ana Faris this time around. "I think I brought something different," Tisdale said, noting she's a big fan of Faris. "I'm not trying to do what she did, but I think it's a different type of comedy than I've ever done and I had fun doing it." The last scary movie that spooked her? "’Evil Dead.’ And we spoofed it."

Bear in mind, “Evil Dead” hit theaters a week ago. How did “Scary Movie V” pull of the timely reference?

"They were filming until last week," said Jerry O'Connell, who takes on skewering the male lead in “50 Shades of Grey.”

Simon Rex said keeping the franchise "fresh and current" was important to its success. "By the time we were done filming we had spoofed movies that were two years old: ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Planet of the Apes,’" he said. "So we had to do reshoots to spoof ‘Mama’ and ‘Evil Dead’ a few weeks ago."

As for “50 Shades of Grey” (a film yet to hit theaters), O'Connell says he went by the book to play Christian Grey â€" sort of. "There is a red room," he said. But, "My sexual slave is Mike Tyson. I get off on him hitting me. Which is a little frightening, because when you're doing the scene he's punching about 100 times. He came a little close (to actually hitting me) once. And he said, 'I'm so sorry. I'm just not used to missing.'"

We can only hope that makes the DVD.
