Further details of Princess Madeleine of Sweden's wedding revealed - hellomagazine.com

03 MAY 2013

With a little more than a month to go before Princess Madeleine of Sweden marries her financier love Chris O’Neill, serious preparations have begun to make the ceremony the royal wedding of the year.

Taking place on 8 June, the wedding will see Crown Princess Victoria’s sister wed her London-born beau at the Royal Palace Chapel in downtown Stockholm.

Welcoming their royal guests at a private gala dinner on June 7 at the capital city’s Grand Hotel, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will host the attendees.

Although the final guest list for the event has not yet been revealed, it has been confirmed that Prince Andrew and Sophie, Countess of Wessex will be attending the ceremony on behalf of the British royal family.

Princess Madeleine will say her vows at 4pm the day after the gala, although further details about the ceremony are yet to be divulged.

As a 21 gun fire salute will greet the couple as they leave the ceremony, the newly married couple will ride in a horse-drawn carriage to Riddarholmen island. Holding their wedding reception at Drottningholm Palace, the pair can celebrate to their hearts content with their highly esteemed guests.

Announcing the news of her engagement on 25 October 2012, the royal court released an official announcement, stating: "The Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announce the engagement between Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O'Neill.

"After His Majesty The King of Sweden had given his consent to the marriage between Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O'Neill, His Majesty requested the approval by the Swedish Government, in accordance with the procedures set out in the Swedish Constitution."

“We are both extremely happy and delighted. It is a very special day for us,” said Madeleine in her official engagement interview.

Although he admittedly only knows a few Swedish phrases, Chris has said that he has fallen in love with both Madeleine and her native country.

“Sweden is fantastic. It is such a beautiful country with very friendly people. I have mostly just been to Stockholm and Öland but I hope I will have the opportunity to visit Sweden a little more often now,” said the banker.
