Katy Perry has admitted contacting Kristen Stewart after she was romantically linked to the actress's ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson.
The singer, 28, told Elle UK magazine that she was simply being a friend to Pattinson in the wake of his high-profile split.
The pop star was spotted with the English actor, 27, on various occasions following the end of his on/off four year relationship with his Twilight co-star, 23, in May.

Reports at the time claimed heartbroken Kristen felt 'betrayed' over Katy's friendship with Robert, so the singer contacted the actress to reassure her their relationship was strictly platonic.
Speaking to the September issue of ELLE UK magazine, Katy said: 'I sent her a text message saying: "I know you've seen all this stuff but you know I would never disrespect you. I'm not that person. I'm just trying to be a friend to him but it is unfortunate that I do have a set of t*ts."'
Katy has had plenty in her own lovelife to keep her occupied, having recently reconciled with singer/songwriter John Mayer following their split in February.

She explained: 'He pulled away. That was a big hello for me.
'I realised I could lose the person I loved and I had to deal with some things, issues I think a lot of women have.
'You can be strong in one aspect of your life but submissive in another.'
With a failed marriage to Russell Brand behind her, Katy acknowledged she was attracted to 'challenging' men.
But added: 'I'm not interested in taming anyone - I'm pretty wild myself.'
In the interview, the singer also opened up on her friendship with Barbadian singer Rihanna.
She said: 'I love her and every time I see her, I'm reminded of the light that she has.
'There's a lot of dark in this business. I know a lot of people out there with the most detrimental entourages - they are the root of their demise. It's really unfortunate but you can't save these people. My days of celebrity saving are over!'
The full interview appears in the September issue of ELLE UK, on sale Wednesday July 31. Also available as a digital edition.
